21st of Feb. 2025 the International Mother Language Day. The expanse of 936 acres with eye-catching complete and incomplete constructions here and there is simply stupendous. Registrar Prof. Bamdev Acharya was all agog to lend his assistance for a circular view from the fourth floor of the main building.
Really nice.
Students in the campus are busy writing their exam. Still then Scholars, Professors, Emplyees made the gathering quite good and sizable.
Languages spilled over. Telgu, Hindi, Bengali, Odia, English.
Speech making, singing, recitation made the day.
It was a mother language jamboree.
Director Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar welcomed and opened the occasion. A Professor of Electrical Sciences, he himself is a son to seven languages though Marathi is his root. One unique step he has taken. Any Thesis submitted in this IIT shall have its synopsis in one of the regional languages of India.
Great.
Mother language like mother’s milk not only nourishes cognitive ability but also makes our multilingual grasp strong as well as robust.
We should be proud that Odia /Odisha showed the way in modern India to form provinces on linguistic basis.
Three cheers for our mother language Odia.
Jay Jagannatha.
